More than 50 art galleries display art works of more than 1000 German and international artists during Gallery Weekend, including special openings and events. Archeology Museum displays exhibits of prehistoric, roman, medieval and more recent archaeology of Frankfurt and its surrounding countryside. Free entrance every last Saturday of a month from 10:00-17:00.

Bremen Freimarkt is one of Germany's oldest fairs, with a history dating back more than 950 years. The main event is the procession on the second Saturday (27 Oct 2012, 26 Oct 2013). From noon onwards more than 100 floats, bands and associations proceed through the city.
During Maritim Festival you can enjoy various music on the streets of Bremen. Held on August (check dates on their web), it also summons a grand parade of ships.
Vegesack Harbour Festival takes place on the first weekend in June. Three days full of live music, shanty choirs, maritime attractions and crowds of happy people. This is time when northern Europe's oldest man-made harbour becomes the meeting point for a vast array of ships, both large and small. Venue: Vegesack Harbour.

Bremen carnival is the biggest samba carnival in Germany. In 2013 it wil be held from 8-9 February. City center.
