The newly re-opened Van Gogh museum has relaunched its tradition of late Friday nights - with special program, free tours, workshops, DJ music and other events. Every Friday of a month from 18:00-22:00, free admission. You can also use free Wi-Fi newtwork throughout the museum.

Rijksmuseum in Schiphol airport is a nice surprise for those flying in and out Amsterdam. It is located on Holland Boulevard, in the area behind the passport control between the E and F Pier. The museum is open every day from 7:00 until 20:00 and admission is free. It houses a permanent exhibition of ten works by Dutch masters of the Golden Age from the Rijksmuseum's collection, as well as temporary exhibition that is changed several times per year.

The National Heritage Days in Amsterdam is an annual two-day event on the second week of Septmeber when all the major monuments, museums, art galleries are opened to public access free of charge. In 2013 the Heritaga Days events are held on 14 and 15 September.
